Changes to Brazil CAA operating hours
Friday, 23rd July, 2010
Please see the below from one of our Brazilian agents:
''Overflight Permit and Temporary Admission:
Every foreign aircraft entering Brazil and intending to fly to more than one Brazilian location must have these two documents on board while staying in the country. The authorities will check all original documents of crew and aircraft and then issue the permits.
The Overflight Permit will be issued by ANAC (Civil Aviation) and Temporary Admission by Customs, both on the first airport of entry. They are normally valid for 60 days, but this may change according to the expiration dates of crew and acft documents.
ANAC used to be available 24 x 7 at the international airports, but now they are only working in business hours, from Monday to Friday (from 7:00 or 8:00 am to 5:00, 6:00 or 8:00 pm - local times, depending on the airport).
This means that if a customer is planning to fly to more than one Brazilian location (which means that permit will be required), the flight schedule must fit the times above for entering Brazil, or it'll be necessary to wait until the next available time to get the permit issued.
For example, if the aircraft lands on a Monday at 22:00 local, the document will only be issued on the next day, Tuesday, at 08:00 local; if it lands on a Friday, it will only will be issued on next Monday. In this cases, crew and pax can leave the airport, but crew will have to come back on the next day to present the documents to the authorities.
Please note that this rule does not apply to technical stops and flights staying in just one airport in Brazil. Also, it's only valid for the first entry in Brazil, on the way back (last airport to clear Customs & Immigrations to leave the country) ANAC agent presence is not necessary.
There are only 3 airports in Brazil where ANAC still works 24 x 7: SBBR, SBSV, and SBGR. But they are probably going to change their operations time like the other ones soon.
This is not a permanent situation, as in the future we will be able to issue your permits throught a website from ANAC. We don't know yet when it's going to be ready, but I'll keep you posted of any news as soon as we receive any official information from ANAC.''
We advise all our clients that, if applicable, you send schedules through to Flightworx Operations for validation before confirming any schedule with your customers / clients.
