Flightworx supports world speed record flight.
Friday, 21st November, 2008
Action Aviation, distributors for the SJ30 high performance business jet in the Middle East region, set a new world speed record on 9th November 2008, by flying from London to Dubai in 7 hours and 7 minutes (including a 41 minute stop for fuel in Istanbul). The record was set in Action Aviation's own SJ30 aircraft, and flown by their Chairman Hamish Harding and Bryan Dennison from Emivest Aerospace as co-pilot.
The London Dubai record was achieved at an average speed of 488 mph (786 km/h) over the 3470 statute mile route (5600 km). The flight, which has been officially sanctioned by the National Aeronautical Association, marked the fastest ever speed between London and Dubai for any aircraft under 20,000 lbs (9 tonnes) weight.
As Flight Support provider for Action Aviation, Flightworx played an instrumental part in providing full operational support for this flight, including the flight planning necessary for minimum routing and optimum altitudes. This involved close liaison with the London controllers, who recorded the official start of the record attempt. Dubai ATC was then tasked with recording the official landing time. Flightworx also co-ordinated the quickest possible turn-around time for the fuel stop in Istanbul.
Flightworx would like to congratulate Action Aviation and the SJ30 team for their record breaking achievement.
